Bio: Dr. Lia (Lika) Tsuladze is an Executive Director of the Center for Social Sciences and an Associate Professor of Sociology at Tbilisi State University, Georgia. Lia is the author of more than 25 publications and 3 textbooks. Her research interests involve Georgia’s Europeanization, the issues related to national identity, civil activism, etc. She has led a number of projects related to Georgia’s Europeanization, among them are The Post-Visa Liberalization Discourses on Europeanization in Georgia (2017-2020, donor: Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation) and Performing Europeanisation – Political vis-a-vis Popular Discourses on Europeanisation in Georgia (2014-2016, donor: Academic Swiss Caucasus Net (ASCN)), two Erasmus+ Jean Monnet projects that aimed to raise awareness on European integration among academic communities and ethnic minorities in Georgia, and others. In 2013-14 Lia was a Post-Doctoral research fellowship at St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford and analysed Georgians’ discourses of national identity in the context of Europeanization. Her comparative research, carried out in 2011-12 and supported by Volkswagen Foundation, focused on the young people’s perceptions of Europeanization in the New European countries (the cases of Romania and Poland) and their borderlands (the case of Georgia). Currently, she is leading the Georgian team within the Mediatized EU project (and respective WP2 – Research) funded through Horizon 2020 scheme.
